What is God’s posture towards you, according to the Holy Scriptures?

What is His emotional state of being – His mental frame-of-mind – whenever He thinks about you?

What are the feelings in His heart towards you? What is the look on His face when He thinks of you?

Are His arms crossed in anger? Is there a stern look on His face? Is there a look of disappointment? A look of “well now you’re gonna get it”? Is He tapping His foot, waiting on you to pull yourself together?

Or is He just absent. Silent. Invisible. Disinterested. Not paying attention. Just ignoring you or unaware of you?

What does the Bible tell us about God’s posture towards us?

The Lord your God is with you; He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you; He will quiet you with His love; He rejoices over you with singing!

Zephaniah 3:17

I used to imagine God sitting up on His throne whenever we worship Him – just taking it all in – just bobbing His head a little, maybe drumming His fingers on His knee a bit with the beat…

But this verse tells us that He is up – He is out of His seat – He is on His feet – and He is the One standing and singing His song over us! Can you see the joy in face as He stands and sings His song over you!?

So what are the feelings in God’s heart towards you?

Disappointment? Disgust? Disdain? Is He ashamed of you? Or is He just apathetic towards you?

What does the Bible tell us about God’s heart towards us?

I have loved you with an everlasting love,” says the Lord. “I have drawn you with lovingkindness.”

Jeremiah 31:3

He loves you with an everlasting love!

But each day, the Lord pours His unfailing love upon me. At night His song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.

Psalm 42:8

Each day, God pours His unfailing love out upon you and me! His song – the song He sings over us – His joyful song carries us through each of our nights!

That doesn’t sound like the language of obligatory, forced love to me – that sounds like the language of a Father who treasures and delights in His kids!

And just how often does God think of you? What does the Bible tell us about that?

How precious concerning me are Your thoughts, O God! How vast is the number of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand.

Psalm 139:17-18

How many grains of sand are there in the whole world? Psalm 139:18 here tells us that God thinks about us more often than there are grains of sand in the whole world!

And what is the nature of those thoughts He has about us? What kind of emotion of mindframe does God have when He thinks of us? Precious. Psalm 139 says, “how precious” are His thoughts concerning us!

My friend Bart Scarbrough likes to say, “Jesus is very fond of you.”

Behold what manner of love the Father has lavished upon us, that we should be called the sons and the daughters of God – and that is what we are!

1 John 3:1

That is who we are in Christ Jesus. We are the beloved sons and daughters of the Most High God. Cherished. Treasured. Wanted. Delighted-in. Beloved.

He’s a good, good Father – that’s who He is. And we are loved by Him – that’s who we are to the Father. BELOVED. By the power of the Holy Spirt, through Christ Jesus, our Savior and Lord.

I’ve got one more Scripture for you. May you know, way deep down in the core of your being, that this is God’s heart for you – this is God’s posture to you who belong to Christ Jesus:

As He says in Hosea, “I will call them ‘My people’ who are not My people; and I call her ‘My loved one’ who is not beloved,” and, “It will happen that in the very place where it was said of them, ‘You are not my people,’ they will be called the sons and daughters of the living God.”

Romans 9:25-26
